The spray gun is where the two components meet for the first time: they enter through separate inlets, mix in the mixing chamber and leave through the nozzle. So the gun's quality and condition directly affect the foam or polyurea.
Five selection criteria
- Pressure: the gun must handle your machine's maximum. PUSMAK machines run up to 200 bar, and the SP2 is rated to 200 bar fluid pressure.
- Temperature: the SP2's maximum fluid temperature is 88°C — above the KPX machines' 80°C maximum liquid temperature.
- Air: air-purge guns use air to clear the mixing chamber when you stop. The SP2 needs 6–8 bar.
- Weight and comfort: applicators hold the gun for hours. The SP2 weighs 1.05 kg with a grip designed for long shifts.
- Maintenance: the easier a gun is to strip and clean, the less downtime. The SP2 ships with a cleaning tool kit and spare parts.
Fittings
Make sure the fittings match your whip hose. On the SP2:
| Inlet | Size |
|---|---|
| Air | 1/4 NPT |
| Component A (ISO) | -5 JIC; 1/2-20 UNF |
| Component B (POL) | -6 JIC; 9/16-18 UNF |
PUSMAK whip hoses (PH3 and PH6) end at the gun with ISO 1/2 UNF, POL 9/16 UNF and 1/4 NPT air fittings.
Safety
Choose a gun with a safety interlock that stops material flow when you pause. On the SP2 the interlock cuts chemical flow during interruptions.
Spare parts
O-rings, filters, nozzles and seals are consumables replaced regularly. Keep a small stock and order them through spare parts.
