A spray machine heats both components to operating temperature, but the run from machine to gun can exceed 100 m. If the material cools on the way, its viscosity changes, mixing suffers and the layer quality drops. That is the heated hose's job.
The parts of the line
- The main heated hose: carries components A and B plus an air line, with a heating element and a temperature sensor.
- The whip hose: a short, flexible section at the end of the line that connects to the gun and makes the applicator's job easier.
PUSMAK hoses
| Model | Length | Inner diameter | Heating power | Max pressure |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PH15 | 15 m | 3/8 in | 400 W | 200 bar |
| PH30 | 30 m | 3/8 in | 800 W | 200 bar |
| PH3 whip | 3 m | 1/4 in | 80 W | 200 bar |
| PH6 whip | 6 m | 1/4 in | 160 W | 200 bar |
| PH63 | 63 m | 5/16 in | 7.00 kVA | 420 bar |
The PH15, PH30, PH3 and PH6 use an E-type thermocouple and are rated to 90°C; PUSMAK states they work with other brands' machines that use a similar sensor. The PH63 is built for high-throughput foam, has its sensor next to the gun, and cannot be combined with other hoses.
How to work out the length
- Measure the distance from where the machine is parked to the furthest spray point, plus a margin for routing around obstacles.
- Check your machine's maximum:
| Machine | Maximum hose length |
|---|---|
| EP 10 | 33 m |
| KPX 10 / KPX 10+ / KPX 20 / KPX 20+ | 90 m |
| KPX 40 / KPX 50 / PURMIX | 105 m |
| GENSET | 90 / 105 m |
- Combine sections: for example 60 m = PH30 + PH30, and 75 m = PH30 + PH30 + PH15.
- Add a whip: the PH3 for tight spaces, the PH6 for a wider reach.
If the distance regularly exceeds your machine's maximum, consider a machine that supports 105 m, such as the KPX 40 or KPX 50.
Hose care tips
- Avoid sharp bends and running equipment over the hose.
- Coil it in wide loops for storage.
- Check the outer shell and fittings before every job.
